The SensorLogic Service Delivery Platform is a fully hosted, cloud-based managed solution. It utilizes the platform-as-a-service model, which provides a number of advantages over the in-house approach to software application development and hosting.
By leveraging cloud-based resources, customers can make rapid progress with their M2M application development projects without having to worry about expensive, up-front investments in hardware and software, or burdening their IT departments. It lets them avoid having to extend their networks to handle device communication traffic, and eliminates their need to conduct system installation and validation. Having all these elements and steps handled for them saves customers lots of time and money.
The SensorLogic Platform is designed to deliver high availability and reliability for large and demanding organizations network operators, major corporations, non-profit organizations and government agencies. The system is housed at multiple, geographically dispersed, secure hosting centers with fail-over capability between sites.
The Platform's design has no single point of failure. It's a multi-server architecture with built-in load balancing and parallel pipeline processing. Multiple load balancers distribute device messages to multiple edge proxy servers, device protocol translators, event processors and services.
The Platform manages multiple queues for each service, and additional services – either standard or custom -- can be added without disruption to existing service queues. If a load balancer, translator or other process fails, or if a server goes off line, other balancers distribute the load to available systems automatically. Capacity scales automatically with the addition of physical or virtual servers.
Unlike the first wave of M2M applications, today's M2M solutions are often designed as collaborative and community-based systems. With increased usage and more types of users, the security, access control and device administration capabilities of these systems are more critical than ever.
The SensorLogic Platform allows customers to handle their own administration, setting access controls and privileges for their users, portals and device groups per their specific policies and business requirements.
The SensorLogic Platform also makes it easy for customers to handle ongoing device administration. Simple tools allow customers to conduct device management, activation, updates, and provisioning in accord with the selected devices and operator networks. The Platform's system software can be updated 'on-the-fly' – without requiring system downtime and the associated operational disruptions.
The SensorLogic Service Delivery Platform also can be delivered as an on-premise solution or hosted at a customer's own data centers.
